THE ART OF RECYCLING.
When living in a rural area, we frequently see and move amongst discarded materials and old machinery once having an important purpose and contribution to our lifestyle, now no longer needed lost and ignored in our landscape, my works are a response to this.
When sculpturing I find the concept of ‘Arte povera’ an integral part of my art practice, developed in the 1960’s in Italy, utilising worthless and banal materials to make art which critiques wasteful consumerism, or simply giving new life to junk.
Using my sculpture as a medium for the mind of the observer, I draw attention to what was, what is and open an opportunity for what could be, recreating character and intrigue in the once worthless.
I attempt to give the individual the opportunity to interpret, ponder and explore the abstract possibilities from their own personal angle, feeling the presence of the art and not just seeing it, possibly creating a relationship between the piece and the observer, parts from different times and different industry, relating to different people.
Being a trade qualified furniture finisher, an Artist with a diploma in freelance illustration, and a Professional tattoo Artist with 11 years experience.
I have a love for these mediums each being an important part of my character and personality, depending on life and world events, each flows through to be my dominant form of expression at any given time, while hoping to give others enjoyment along the way.
